Welcome to 5th class! This is where you can find updates on our classroom activities and a showcase of our amazing work. We are excited to share our fun and exciting journey through 5th class with you!
January was a very busy month in 5th class.
We made robots using Lego WeDo.
Catholic Schools Week took place and we created a board to celebrate this.
We became Playleaders and taught the Infant classes new games.
We explored various shapes on the geoboards and created tangrams in Maths.
Camogie took place outside with a coach.
We also made St Brigid's Crosses to celebrate the beginning of Spring.
On December 17th and 18th, 5th and 6th class wowed everyone with their amazing performance of 'A Hint of Snow White.' They not only acted brilliantly but also played their musical instruments beautifully. All their hard work really paid off, and they had so much fun performing in front of big audiences both nights. Well done, everyone—you’ve made your school and families incredibly proud!
Christmas Trip to the Nursing Home
On the day of our holidays 5th and 6th class went to visit the nursing home. We played music and sang Christmas songs for all the residents. We even sang a few songs from our concert which went down a treat. Merry Christmas to all from 5th class.
Our very own Recipe Book
We created our very own recipe book in 5th class. We filled it with our individual and original recipes. We used our knowledge of procedural writing to complete this book. Some of us even made these recipes at home and included images of our recipes to show you. Each and every recipe looked and sounded delicious, we think you will agree!
Brunch Morning
This morning we had brunch in our classroom. We had everything from croissants to sausage rolls. It was the perfect treat after a very busy few nights putting on our Christmas Concert.
Trip to the Buttery
As a treat this week we were surprised with a trip to the Buttery because we have been working so hard on our Christmas Concert. We enjoyed some lovely hot chocolates and cupcakes, they were delicious!!
Halloween Dress Up Day 2024
We had great fun in 5th class dressing up for Halloween. The children's outfits were all so creative and original!! Check out all our amazing costumes below.
Halloween Mummy Art
We got all "wrapped up" this week in making our own Halloween Mummy Art. Aren't they "spooktacular"?!
IRD Public Speaking
Well done to the pupils in 5th and 6th class who took part in the IRD Public Speaking competition in Newmarket during October. Juliette Buckley, Marc O' Connor, Tommy Clifford and Cara Fleming did both themselves and our school very proud. They presented their own speeches in front of a large audience. The hard work that they put in was clear to see. Maith sibh!
We are Artists
We have made the classroom our own by displaying our Art around the room.
Check out our rocket ships and abstract portraits inspired by Pablo Picasso's style of Cubism.
Eco Homes
One of the first projects we did this year was constructing eco-homes from recycled materials. I think it is clear to see that we might have a few architects among us!!!
