Step 2: Technology

Technology: The use of ICT to record and analyse data.

We collected data for our BT Young Scientist project "Was it something I read?". We recorded all the data using Chromebooks. We are very lucky in Boherbue NS that we have 30 Chromebooks available to us. We used the website canva.com to record and help us analyse all the data we collected. We were then able to present this data on bar graphs which allowed us to read the data clearly.

We recorded and analysed data on our heart rates when we were reading aloud in front of the class and when the teacher was reading aloud. We compared and analysed the results using our Chromebooks.

Technology: The children took part in coding projects.

We were delighted to take part in Lego WeDo which is a a hands-on science solution that develops science practices in the classroom through a robot-based learning system. We learned about the life cycle of a frog and got to build and code the frog to move and even sing! We used our Chromebooks to program the frogs.

Technology: Bee-Bots in Senior Infants and First Class 🐝🤖

The children in Senior Infants and First Class have had lots of fun learning about sequencing, addition, directional language and programming through the use of Bee-Bots. Pupils have enjoyed integrating coding with their maths and English lessons.
