Huge congratulations to Mia-Lily Drumm from 2nd Class who was the first pupil to receive her Food Dudes Champion Certificate. Minister Norma Foley’s Visit to Boherbue NS

Norma Foley the Minister for Education visited the school on Thursday December 14th. She was accompanied on her visit by Deputy Michael Moynihan and Cork County Councillor Bernard Moynihan. She visited all the classrooms and met the pupils and staff. She thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the children and did her best to answer their very clever questions! Minister Foley also toured the NS school building and the Parish Hall. She is very aware of our current accommodation difficulties. Minister Foley and Deputy Michael Moynihan have made very strong representations about our school to the building section at the Department of Education. Temporary Accommodation on the school field has been promised, we are just awaiting final approval. If granted the Temporary Accommodation units will hopefully be in place for September 2024 and we can finally vacate the Parish Hall. The Building Project will go ahead as planned. I would like to thank Deputy Moynihan who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the past few months to get temporary accommodation approved for the school. He has also been assisted by his brother Cork County Councillor Bernard Moynihan.

Christmas Concert 2023

On Tuesday, December 19th and Wednesday, December 20th the pupils of Boherbue N.S. took to the stage in the Parish Hall. It is a very important tradition in Boherbue National school. Our Christmas Concerts are always a highlight for parents and children. We had a packed hall with an audience that enjoyed tremendous performances on both nights. Children from all classes sang and performed tunes on tin whistle and many more instruments. Senior Infants and First Class performed the Nativity "Angel Express". Fifth and Sixth Class performed the play "Aladdin".

Huge credit must go every year to all the teachers who put in a huge amount of time and effort and of course to our wonderful children who perform so well on stage.

A special thanks to Margaret Kiely who was the driving force behind Aladdin and also to our music teacher Alan Finn who prepares the children so well every year. Míle buíochas daoibh!

Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal 2023

This year we supported the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We are so grateful that so many of our families filled and wrapped a shoebox to give to children in the world far less fortunate than any of us. A big thank you to Mrs. Fiona Murphy for driving this initiative and to those who supported this wonderful cause.

West Midlands Children's Theatre Group 2023

Boherbue N.S. were delighted to welcome ‘West Midlands Children’s Theatre’ into school on Wednesday the 6th of December. They performed their pantomime ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ for the children. It was an action packed pantomime adventure loosely based on the tales from 1001 Arabian Nights. We joined Sinbad as he crossed the seven seas to find his fame and fortune! It was a wonderful experience for all of our children and a fantastic way to begin our Christmas festivities! Check out some photos of the event below.

IRD Public Speaking 2023

IRD Duhallow’s Youth and Education Working Group has been coordinating a Public Speaking Competition for Primary School children for the past 7 years. These pupils represented Boherbue N.S. at the IRD Public Speaking event which was held on December 16th of this year. The competition has helped the students in confidence-building and has also assisted them to develop and improve their research skills. Well done!
